What is like LOSING a series? New York Yankees CANNOT tell you how that feels

All they do is WIN WIN WIN No Matter What

The New York Yankees were HOBBLING going 6-9 in their first FIFTEEN games of the season and had INJURIES left and right, BUT since that point they have the BEST record in baseball and did NOT lose a series in the Month of May after WINNING the final FULL series of the month against the San Diego Padres. The 2018 World Series Champion Boston Red Sox come to town for a FOUR game set this weekend, in what can ONLY be described as a MUST win series for the Red Sox, while the Yankees would be ECSTATIC with a SPLIT this weekend.

Yankees vs Padres Series RECAP:

Coming off a TOUGH extra inning LOSS to the Kansas City Royals on Sunday, the Yankees went with the OPENER route for the SECOND time in THREE days on Monday afternoon. After a GREAT inning by Chad Green to OPEN the game, David Hale was PHENOMENAL in “RELIEF” and thanks to the offense, he enjoyed a WIN.

After Gardner gave the Yankees the lead, Gary Sanchez proved that he is NOT just MASHING home runs against the Baltimore Orioles.

The offense was FANTASTIC on Monday afternoon and the Padres came into the series with a WINNING record so the WIN on Monday night was HUGE. The Yankees went into Tuesday looking to take ANOTHER game off the Padres and things got off to a TERRIBLE start.

Masahiro Tanaka is an ENIGMA, he has the POTENTIAL to be the BEST pitcher in baseball, BUT can also have starts in which he looks like the WORST pitcher in baseball. As the guys over at the Short Porch Podcast (a MUST listen for Yankee fans) have pointed out he ONLY gets up for BIG games and does NOT care about games against BAD teams.

Even though the Padres are NOT a TERRIBLE team, Tanaka did NOT care about them and due to a fielding ERROR and a BLOOP single in the TOP of the First and then a DAGGER Three-Run Home Run, the Yankees fell behind 4-0 WITHOUT an out recorded in the game.

ONE thing we have learned from the Yankees this season is that NEVER to count them out, so EVERY Yankee fan was STILL watching the game and they pulled to WITHIN 5-4 in that game but could NOT get the TYING run across home plate and LOST the game.

Wednesday afternoon was HUGE for the Yankees as they were getting back James Paxton, who is going to be a BIG KEY to the Yankees’ rotation for the REST of the season and he was EXCEPTIONAL. He threw FOUR NO-HIT innings before he was taken out as the team is trying to EASE him back in. He has an ERA below 0.40 in games at Yankee Stadium since joining the Yankees so things are going to go GREAT for the Yankees when the BIG Maple is on the mound.

For the Yankee offense, the order was going to be TALL for them as they were facing Chris Paddack of the Padres who is a candidate for the NL Rookie of the Year award but DJLM and Luke Voit gave him a GREAT welcome to the Bronx.

It seemed like Paddack had CALMED down after the ROUGH first inning but Gio Urshela wanted to INCREASE his PAIN in the second.

The BIGGEST fake narrative around the MLB is that Gleyber Torres ONLY hits against the Baltimore Orioles and he made sure that was FAKE on Wednesday.

The Yankee bullpen was tasked with pitching FIVE innings in relief due to the LIMITED start of Paxton and they were GREAT as they gave up just FOUR hits and WON the game 7-0. It would NOT have been out of question if the Yankees mailed it in on Wednesday due to the BIG series this weekend but they were DIALED IN from the FIRST pitch to the LAST OUT and that was REFRESHING to see. With that WIN, the Yankees have now just lost ONE series since the middle of April and that was a TWO game set at the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Now the Boston Red Sox come to town, who have NOT looked great this season thus far. They have a TERRIBLE bullpen and that is a going to be the BIG key for the Yankees this weekend, who have the BEST bullpen in baseball.

Getting to the Red Sox’ starting pitchers EARLY and OFTEN and then BEATING UP on the bullpen while the Yankees HOLD IT DOWN with their GREAT bullpen.

I would LOVE a SPLIT in the series and ANYTHING better than that is going to be GREAT for the Yankees and their MORALE for the REST of the season.

The Yankees will get back CC Sabathia back on Sunday and they are going to go with an OPENER game on either Friday or Saturday night with Domingo German pitching the OTHER game.
