Yankees Weekend Series Preview- Devil Rays

I do NOT know what LOSING feels like

The New York Yankees welcomed the Seattle Mariners to the Bronx in what was going to be a Match up between TWO playoff teams but the Yankees brought out the BROOMSTICKS. The Yankees SWEPT the Mariners this week and are now TWO games ahead of the Boston Red Sox in the AL East Standings. The Yankees traveled down to Tampa Bay to take on the Devil Rays this weekend which starts a SIX game ROAD trip for the Bombers before they return HOME. The Yankees FINALLY started to get some separation over the Red Sox in the AL East and they can INCREASE that separation by beating up on the Devil Rays this weekend.

Yankees- Mariners Series Recap-

Game 1- Domingo German has become a really IMPORTANT starter for the Yankees due to INJURIES in the Pitching Staff and he proved why he should remain in the pitching staff by being GREAT on Tuesday night. He gave up TWO runs in SEVEN innings to get his SECOND win of the season. The Yankees really need a Starting pitcher, if German continues to pitch this way than they have that pitcher in house.

Giancarlo Stanton has been HEAVILY criticized by Yankee fans and he a GREAT series against the Mariners and it started on the FIRST pitch he faced on Tuesday night. He hit a LASER shot to Monument Park to TIE the game for the Yankees and he was OFF and running. Miguel Andujar has been GREAT after he REPLACED Brandon Drury, who has been the BEST player in all of the Minor Leagues but due to the success of Andujar, Drury is STUCK in the Minor Leagues. On Tuesday night, Andujar had another BIG moment for the Yankees and SOLIDIFIED his spot on the Yankees.

The Yankees added FOUR runs including Home Runs by Aaron Hicks and Gleyber Torres to CRUISE to a 7-2 WIN over the Mariners in the FIRST game of the series.

Game 2- Johnny Lasagna came in to the Yankee rotation STRAIGHT from AA and he was GREAT in his first start last week but he STRUGGLED getting batters out on Wednesday night. He gave up THREE runs and only pitched THREE and TWO-THIRDS innings before being taken out of the game. The Yankees were down 5-0 in the FIFTH inning so it looked like they were going to LOSE but time and time again, the Yankees prove that they are NEVER dead.

The Yankees came all the way back to TIE the game at FIVE thanks to a BIG Home Run by Gary Sanchez and Yankee Stadium was rocking. The Yankees got the Game WINNING runner onΒ  base in the BOTTOM of the NINTH inning with Giancarlo Stanton on the plate and he had his first BIG moment at Yankee Stadium.

The Yankees had come back and scored SEVEN unanswered runs and WIN the series against the Mariners who had the FOURTH best record in the American League. For Stanton it was the FIRST time it seemed that he was able to ENJOY a WIN with the Yankee crowd.

Game 3- The Yankees had their ACE Luis Severino on the mound yesterday looking for the sweep against the Mariners and after he gave up NO runs in the FIRST inning, the Yankees picked up where they left off on Wednesday night.

The Yankees scored TWO more runs in the FIRST inning thanks to ANOTHER Home Run by Miguel Andujar to take a 4-0 lead after the FIRST inning. Sevy was NOT on his best level, but he gave up only THREE runs in FIVE and TWO-THIRDS innings and the Yankee bullpen came in to give them a 4-3 WIN and a SWEEP over the Mariners.

The Mariners are a really GOOD team so this series was a BIG series for the Yankees. They now have some separation over the Red Sox which their most IMPORTANT goal in this part of the season.

The Yankees were firing on ALL cylinders and that should CONTINUE this weekend in Tampa Bay against the LOWLY Devil Rays. The TWO teams played each other in the Bronx last weekend with the Yankees taking THREE out of four games against the Devil Rays.
