The Wild Card weekend in the NFL was in fact NFL and now they are only EIGHT teams that still have a chance to LIFT the Vince Lombardi Trophy at the END of this season. You can find the FULL recap of last week’s action right here. The field will be SLASHED in HALF this week with the Divisional Round of the Playoffs. All EIGHT remaining teams are in action over the next TWO days, so we are in store for some GREAT football over the next FIFTY hours.
Even though the games on the field were WILD last week, I was not GOOD with my picks going 1-3, but that ONE win CLINCHED a WINNING record for this season OVERALL. Nobody cares about the WHOLE season, we all want to make MONEY this week, so HOPEFULLY I am not SHITTY with my picks this week.
Wild Card Weekend Recap-
Game 1- My Pick- Chiefs outright, Actual- Titans outright
Game 2- My Pick- Falcons outright, Actual- Falcons outright
Game 3- My Pick- Jags outright, Actual- Jags WON but did not cover
Game 4- My Pick- Saints outright, Actual- Saints WON but did not cover
Record for Wild Card Weekend- 1-3, Overall Record for the 2017 NFL season- 59-51
The games for this week are the Falcons at the Eagles, the Titans at the Pats, the Jags at the Steelers, the Saints at the Vikings.
Game 1- Saturday Late Afternoon, the Atlanta Falcons at the Philadelphia Eagles (Line- Falcons -2.5)
This is one of the most RARE occasions in which the BEST team in the Regular season is an UNDERDOG in their FIRST game of the playoffs. The Eagles had the BEST record in the NFC, but LOST their starting quarterback Carson Wentz to injury, which is why NOBODY has faith in them WINNING this game and advancing to the next round.
The Falcons started their DEFENSE of the NFC championship from last year with a BIG win over the Rams in Los Angeles last weekend. The Falcons offense looked GREAT in that game for the FIRST time this season and they are riding HIGH into Philadelphia for this game tomorrow afternoon.
This spread is begging gamblers to BET on the Eagles, but I am NOT going to take the bait. I have NO faith in quarterback Nick Foles to lead the Eagles to a WIN, so I LOVE the Falcons and the POINTS in this game.
Game 2- Saturday Night, the Tennessee Titans at the New England Patriots (Line- Pats -13.5)
The Pats begin their defense of the Super Bowl from last season with a HOME game against the Titans in which they are FAVORED by FOURTEEN points. The Pats were the BEST team in the AFC during the Regular Season and they are the Odd-on FAVORITE to WIN the Super Bowl this year.
The Titans had a MASSIVE comeback against the Chiefs in Kansas City last week, but nobody is taking them SERIOUSLY. The Titans were the WORST team to make the Playoffs but somehow they are still ALIVE.
This game is not going to CLOSE and the Pats will be able to score at WILL in this game. The Pats will EASILY cover the spread in this game, and they could easily WIN this game by FORTY points.
Game 3- Sunday Afternoon, the Jacksonville Jaguars at the Pittsburgh Steelers (Line- Steelers -7.5)
The Steelers had a GREAT Regular Season and some would say they are the Second best team in the NFL RIGHT NOW. The Steelers are getting back INJURED wide receiver Antonio Brown in this game, which will help their offense A LOT.
The Jags WON an UGLY game against the Buffalo Bills at HOME last week. The Jags offense was NOT good last week and will need to improve DRASTICALLY this week to cause the UPSET in Pittsburgh.
I do not think this game is going to be a BLOW OUT, as the Jags have already BEAT the Steelers ONCE this season, but I do not think the Jags are going to WIN again. The return of Antonio Brown will help the Steelers WIN this game and COVER the spread as they get ready for Championship weekend.
Game 4- Sunday Late Afternoon, the New Orleans Saints at the Minnesota Vikings (Line- Vikings -5.5)
The Vikings have a chance to do something that has NEVER been done in the NFL before. They can play the Super Bowl in their HOME stadium if they WIN their next TWO games, which will most likely be at HOME also.
The Saints were able to HOLD ON and WIN against the Carolina Panthers last week, but they are facing a much TOUGHER defense this week. Quarterback Drew Brees was GREAT last week and will need to REPEAT his performance if the Saints want their season to CONTINUE.
I really want the Vikings to play in the Super Bowl this season so I am going to pick them to WIN this game, but this game is going to be GREAT. Both teams are capable of WINNING a HIGH scoring shootout so I expect a lot of points to be scored in this game.
My picks for this week are the Falcons, the Pats, the Steelers, AND the Vikings. Check back next week to see my picks for Championship weekend.
