This is the last week of the College Football regular season and I for one am not happy about it. I love College Football because it gives me the perfect excuse to stay home all day Saturday and not leave my couch, after next week I need to find an activity so that I do not look like a loser, sitting at home all day Saturday. Last week I went 3-3 with the picks and I could be a lot better on the season, but am still a game over .500. Towson ended its season last week so there are only five games this week. I have not figured how many games I am going to pick during Championship weekend and Bowl season, so this week might be my last in this format.

Record for Week 12- 3-3, Overall record after Twelve Weeks- 33-32
The games for this week are Texas A&M at LSU, West Virginia at Oklahoma, Michigan State at Rutgers, Washington State at Washington, and Alabama at Auburn
Game 1- Saturday Night, Texas A&M at LSU, (Line- LSU -10.5)
This game is going to be the last game for Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin, as there are reports that he is going to be fired at the end of the game. LSU was in a similar season two years ago, but Les Miles was able to survive and was fired the next season, so maybe an Aggies win will help coach Sumlin save his job. LSU is hoping to get a New Year’s Six bowl, so they will take this game seriously depending upon how things go in the rest of the SEC. For the Aggies this game is about ending their coach’s tenure with a BANG. I will take Texas A&M to keep this game close and possibly cause the upset for their coach.
Game 2- Saturday Late Afternoon, West Virginia at Oklahoma (Line- Oklahoma -22.5)
This game can have no meaning depending upon what happens in the TCU game on Friday. If TCU wins that game, then West Virginia has no chance to play in the Big 12 Championship game, but if TCU loses, then West Virginia can get in with a win. There is like a 0.001% chance that Oklahoma does not get into the Big 12 Championship game, so they will be trying to win this game to secure their spot. They will be without star quarterback Baker Mayfield at the start of the game as he is suspended and will not be a starter. No one knows how much time Mayfield is going to miss, my guess is that it is going to be just one drive. I like West Virginia to keep this game close and as the game progresses Oklahoma will probably take out some of the starters and rest them for the Championship game. I do think that eventually Oklahoma wins this game but it will be less than three touchdowns.
Lock of the Week- Saturday Late Afternoon, Michigan State at Rutgers (Line- Michigan State -12.5)
Michigan State had a bad loss a couple of weeks which put them out of contention of the Big Ten but they are still really good and will play in a marquee bowl game. Rutgers on the other side, is straight up trash. I do not expect many fans to show up to this game and Michigan State should coast to a win in this game and easily cover the spread.
Upset of the Week- Saturday Night, Washington State at Washington (Line- Washington -10.5)
I have been talking about the Apple Cup all year long and it is finally happening. In the preseason I had said that this game would be a defacto National Round of 16 game, but now it has no meaning to the College Football Playoff, as both teams have been basically eliminated from getting in. The bragging rights for the state of Washington are still on the line in this game and the winner of this game still has a chance to play in a New Year’s Six game, so this game is going to be fun to watch. I will take Washington State to keep this game close and possibly cause the upset against their divisional rivals on the road.
College Gameday game- Saturday Late Afternoon, Alabama at Auburn (Line- Alabama -4.5)
Unlike the Apple Cup, this game is a defacto National Round of 16 game. The winner of this game will play Georgia next week and the winner of that game will most likely advance to the College Football Playoff. This is the toughest game on the schedule for Alabama, while Auburn has had some tough games on their schedule like their win over Georgia. This game is going to be low scoring defensive slug fest. It is going to be very similar to the Iron Bowl of the 2013 season when Auburn won the game on a last second field goal returned for a touchdown. I expect Auburn to keep this game close but eventually the high powered defense of Alabama will score some points and lead Alabama to win by at least a touchdown if not more.
My picks for this week are Texas A&M, West Virginia, Michigan State, Washington State, and Alabama. Check back next week to see my picks for Championship weekend.
