Countdown to Kickoff Day 8 (part 2)- College Football Week 1 Picks

Saturdays are for watching amateurs bashing each others head on National TV.

Editor’s note: Tomorrow is the full Saturday of the College Football season, thus today is the perfect time to start a new segment. Starting today, I will be doing a College Football picks blog every week. The blog will be released on every Thursday afternoons. The blog will have the same structure in which I will picking five games. The first two games will be my two favorite College football teams the Towson Tigers and the Texas A&M Aggies. The next two picks will be my Lock of the week, the pick I am most confident about and an upset of the week. The last game will be the College Gameday featureĀ game on ESPN. The Picks will be against the spread and not money lines unless otherwise specified. This is another series of blogs I am going to write, to try and make money for you guys. Enjoy!

The College Football season is here and one of the games that I might have picked happened yesterday when Ohio State blew the doors out of Indiana, it was a College Gameday game, but my dumb brain did not know they were going there. Anyway my games this week are Alabama vs Florida State, BYU vs LSU, Kent State vs Clemson, Texas A&M vs UCLA, and Towson vs Morgan State. Week 1 lines are very scary because the lines are outrageously high for the good teams.

Game 1- Morgan State at Towson

The FCS does not have betting lines, so all the Towson games will have to be straight up. Towson goes into this season as a contender for the CAA title and I think they will be really good this season. This game is going to be a sellout for Towson as Morgan State is only a handful of miles away from TU. The emotions will be high in this rivlary game but I think the Tigers will prevail.

Game 2- Texas A&M at UCLA (Line- UCLA -3.5)

This is major season for both these teams, if either of the teams fails to succeed this season, then the coach will lose their job. The UCLA Bruins have one of the best quarterbacks and them playing at home will be the difference in this game. I will take the Bruins and the points in this game.

Lock of the Week- BYU vs LSU (New Orleans) (Line- LSU -15.5)

The LSU Tigers go into this season with a new head coach in Coach O. I love Coach O and the Tigers will have a great season this year. BYU had a decent season last year but they will not be able to keep the pace of the Tigers. I will take LSU and the points as my mortal lock this week.

Upset of the Week- Kent State at Clemson (Line- Clemson -39.5)

Clemson Tigers are the defending champions, but they do not have the same quarterback as last season. Any time there is a line higher than -35, you have to take the other team. It is highly unlikely that the Tigers win this game by seven touchdowns and two safeties. I think the Tigers will win the game in a blowout but it will be under 39.5 points. I will take Clemson to win the game but not cover the spread.

College Gameday- Alabama vs Florida State (Atlanta) (Line Alabama -7)

This is by far the best game of this week, as evident by the presence of College Gameday in a neutral site game. The Tide lost a heart breaker in the National Championship game last season, and they are on a revenge tour this season. The Seminoles will have a great season this season, but they will need a couple of weeks to get their feet wet before they hit their full stride. I will take Alabama and the points in this game.

Those were the five picks for Week 1 of the College Football season, check back every week as I will try to have these picks hit the newsstands every Thursday afternoon. If you do use my picks and win some cash, then make sure to share with me.
