Countdown to Kickoff Day 8 (Part 1) – AFC East

This is the only preview that I do know what I am talking about

We are now at the last divisional preview of the Countdown to Kickoff series and today we will be looking at the AFC East. The Super Bowl champion resides in this division and so do three of the worst teams in football. In case you did not know, I am a Jets fan and they play in this division, so I am well informed on this division but so is everybody else in the NFL. If you do not predict the Pats to win the division then you do not deserve to watch the NFL, because you have no idea what is going on. As I said earlier, this is the last division preview but there are still some days till the start of football season, so expect some new things on the blog next week.

Finishing fourth in the AFC East will be the New York Jets

I am not going to lie and say that I correctly predicted this division. The best plan for the long term success of the Jets is to be really bad this season to get a high draft pick to build on. The Jets do not have any talent on offense and have the worst quarterbacks in football. It seems like Josh McCown is going to start the season before handing the job over to Bryce Petty or Christian Hackenberg at some point in the season. The Jets offense is going to be so bad that I think they a legitimate chance to lose every single game this season. The Jets defense is actually decent and is the only reason they will not be going 0-16 this season. The defense is going to win some games for the Jets in what is going to be a really bad season for them and their loyal fans whose misery will continue for one more year.

Predicted record for the Jets- 3-13

Finishing third in the AFC East will be the Buffalo Bills

The Bills are as bad as the Jets if not worst. The Bills are going into this season with a new head coach but are going with the same quarterback in Tyrod Taylor who is not very good. There are some people in the NFL that believe that Taylor is a decent signal caller, I disagree with them, I think he is a journeyman backup at best in the NFL. The Bills are in a complete rebuild and trading away their offensive weapons to build for the future. The Bills could benefit from the first overall pick which they will be battling for with the Jets and the Browns throughout the season.

Predicted record for the Bills- 3-13

Finishing second in the AFC East will be the Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins had the worst luck of any team in the preseason, as they lost their starting quarterback for the season in training camp. The Dolphins were able to convince Jay Cutler to come out of retirement and take the starting job. Cutler is familiar with the offensive system in Miami, but I do not think that will lead to many wins for the Dolphins. The Dolphins tried to put out a wildfire with a cup of water by signing Cutler and I think they should be focused on getting healthy and getting ready for the 2018 season.

Predicted record for the Dolphins- 5-11

Winning the AFC East will be the New England Patriots

I have been watching football for 7 seasons now and I have never seen the Pats not win the AFC East. The Pats are the best team in the NFL and they are going to clinch the division before the calendar turns to November. The only thing the Pats should be worried about is whether or not they will have home field advantage in the AFC Playoffs. They will be battling the Raiders for the top spot in the AFC throughout the season, that will be the only competition they will have this season. Since I did the records for all the teams I cannot predict a team to go 16-0 and then still balance things out, but it would not surprise me one bit if the Pats go 16-0 this season and the Jets go 0-16 in the same division.

Predicted record for the Pats- 14-2

That concludes the division previews but there are still three more weekdays left till the start of the NFL season. On Tuesday I will preview the AFC part of the NFL Playoffs as the Countdown to Kickoff presented to you by nobody rols on.
