Countdown to Kickoff Day 4- AFC South

This division is going to be among the worst in baseball

We are officially onto Week 2 of the Countdown to Kickoff and it is still presented to you by nobody. Today is Day 4 of the Countdown and we will be taking a look at a preview of the AFC South on this fine Monday Morning. The AFC South has been looked at as one of the worst divisions in football over the last few years, and I think that trend continues this season. They might have multiple teams playoff teams from this division, but the other teams are going to really bad, the teams are going to beat each other up and not have a great record overall. Without a further ado, here’s a look at a preview of the AFC South.

Finishing fourth in the AFC South will be the Indianapolis Colts

The Colts had a very disappointing season last season. They failed to make the playoffs for the second straight season after reaching the AFC Championship game in 2015, in the infamous Deflategate game against the New England Patriots. The Colts looked a like team that was primed to make a Super Bowl Run after 2015, but have been plagued with injuries. Quarterback Andrew Luck has been injured a lot over the last two seasons and has not been able to take the next step and become an elite QB. The Colts do not have much talent on the roster and Luck is not fully healthy yet. Lack of talent and injuries will limit the Colts from having any success this season and they will miss the playoffs once again and Head Coach Chuck Pagano very well could be fired after the season.

Predicted record for the Indianapolis Colts- 6-10

Finishing third in the AFC South will be the Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars went into last season as a team that was one step away from making the postseason but could not take the step and instead took some steps back. Quarterback Blake Bortles looked like a franchise QB, but after last season and this preseason, he looks like a QB that might not be a NFL starter. Bortles has not played great and in the NFL a team can go as far as the quarterback can take them, the Jags do not have a good QB on the roster. Bortles is currently battling Chad Henne for the starting job and neither is a very good quarterback. The Jaguars have a lot of young talent on all positions except quarterback. The talent is going to be enough for the Jags to win some games this season and not finish last in the division. The Jags can make the postseason if they have consistent quarterback play, but that is not going to come out of any quarterbacks on their roster.

Predicted record for the Jaguars- 7-9

Finishing second in the AFC South will be the Tennessee Titans

The Titans are the experts pick to win this division this season, but I think they will fall just short. The Titans have all the pieces that you need to be good in the NFL and with the poor play of other teams in the division, they very well could win the division. Quarterback Marcus Mariota can take the next step and become an elite QB this season. The Titans’ offense is going to be dynamic with Demarco Murray and Derrick Henry playing alongside Mariota in the backfield and with Eric Decker out wide. The Titans are in that territory where if they fail to make the postseason, than it will be a failure. I think the Titans will be able to get a wild card spot in the AFC, but will battle Houston for the division right till the end of the season.

Predicted record for the Titans- 10-6

Winning the AFC South will be the Houston Texans

It is weird writing anything related to football about the Texans this morning as the people of Houston are facing a much bigger problem than things happening on the field. My thoughts and prayers are with all the people affected by Hurricane Harvey in the Houston area over the weekend. The Texans had a great roster going into last season but had zero production out of the quarterback position. They lost defensive end JJ Watt to a season ending injury but were still able to have a great defense but did not receive any help from the offense. The Texans got rid of Quarterback Brock Osweiler and are going to start rookie signal caller Deshaun Watson this season. Watson was a great college quarterback at Clemson and will be a very good player for the Texans. The Texans have a great defense and great offensive weapons for the young QB, the experience on the roster will help them get past the Titans and win the division this season.

Predicted record for the Texans- 11-5

There you have it, that was a preview of the AFC South. The Texans will win the division and the Titans will join them in the Playoffs as a Wild Card. The Jags and the Colts are going to be really bad, but have winnable games on their schedule that will prevent them from being in contention for the No.1 overall draft pick. Tomorrow is Day 5 of the Countdown to Kickoff, still presented to you by nodody, and we will look at a preview of the NFC North.
