This team cannot seem to catch a break, this season was going to be miserable for us Jets fans, but the hits just keep on coming. In my blog previewing the Jets training camp last week, I had talked about Quincy Enunwa taking the next step and becoming a star in the NFL. The NFL gods obviously hate the Jets and Quincy was injured during a scrimmage in front of Jets fans at Metlife Stadium on Saturday.
There were rumors swirling after the scrimmage and all day yesterday that Quincy was seriously hurt, but it was not being confirmed by the Jets. The confirmation came this morning and all Jets fan everywhere got a little bit more upset about this upcoming season.
The Jets were never going to compete this season, so losing Quincy for this season does not change much about their expectations for the season. This injury means that the Jets will get more opportunities to evaluate the young receivers like Robby Anderson, Charone Peake, and Jalin Marshall. The receivers have shown some flashes of greatness, but this season will be used to evaluate them and they can look forward to 2018. This injury opens up room for other receivers to possibly grab a roster spot, there is only two guaranteed spots in the receiving corp, so any receiver can use the preseason and the remainder of training camp to prove that they belong in the NFL.
The quarterback competition with the Jets is also going to be affected by this injury since they lose a big offensive weapon. Enunwa would have been a big help to the young quarterbacks as he was the most experienced receiver on the Jets roster. Enunwa is a really good receiver and hopefully he will get healthy enough for the 2018 season which can be different season for the Jets then what this season is turning out to be.
This football season is going to be a nightmare for the Jets and myself, so I would heavily advice all of you to follow along on social media to see how this nightmare falls out and how furious I get over the next few months.
