Yankees Series Preview-6/20/17

Things are looking bleak for the Bronx Bombers

What a difference one cross country can flight can make for a baseball team. When I last blogged about the Yankees, they were on a five game winning streak and had a huge lead in the division but their lead is crippling as we speak. They are still in first place but tonight is the biggest game of this season for the Yankees.

The Yankees have lost six games in a row and have looked lost in each of the games. The bullpen which is a strength for the team, gave up leads in multiple games during the losing streak. The bullpen got back Aroldis Chapman, so hopefully the bullpen will return to its lockdown form.

The offense was not terrible during the losing streak, it will get better as they return to a hitter friendly park. There are some injuries on the offense, both in the Bronx and the minor leagues. Sanchez and Hicks are hurt at the big club and Gleyber Torres is going through Tommy John surgery on his non throwing elbow.

The Yankees need to dominate this home stand if they want this magical season to continue. The pitching staff will need to go longer in games so the bullpen does not have a chance to blow leads.
