The Yankees continue to consistently win, they won two games in Toronto, to keep their pace of their good start. The great start that they had is making up for the mediocre patch they are going through right now. They have only won five out of their last games, but continue to be in the driving seat to win the AL East. The Red Sox, who have recovered from their rough start, come into the Bronx this week for a three game set starting tonight. The Yankees take on the Orioles this weekend before heading out west next week. They need to take four games in this home stand, because they are all against divisional teams.
The Yankees offense is becoming a little streaky in the last few games. They either burst out and put up eight or more runs or they fail to score three games. The offense needs to become less streaky and more consistent if they want to still have a great season. Aaron Judge might just win the MVP and the bald brothers of Gardner and Holliday are on pace to have great seasons. Offense needs some help, and it might come when People’s MVP Chase Headley gets hot again.
The rotation was really good in Toronto, but the big question mark is still on cue tonight. Tanaka is slated to pitch tonight and he needs to put up a good start. Everyone else in the rotation is highly overachieving, and if Tanaka figures it out, this rotation will be great. The other pitchers this series are Pineda and Sabathia, so this series is a big test for the Yankees pitching.
The Red Sox are two games behind the Yanks for first place, which makes this series extremely important. This series could go either way, but if the Yankees take two out of three, then they some of their question marks might be solved.
